GAMM: Italy

Rome's newest and largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), has officially opened its doors to the public! Located in Piazza della Repubblica, this exciting new venue is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a fervent advocate for preserving and celebrating video game history, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and engaging gameplay exploration. The museum builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another successful Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.

GAMM boasts a spacious 700 square meter area spread across two floors, showcasing three captivating thematic zones. Before delving into the specifics, take a quick peek at the museum!

A Look Inside GAMM:

  • GAMMDOME: This interactive digital playground combines cutting-edge technology with authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles, donated items, and other historical objects. The experience is built around the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): Journey back to the golden age of arcade gaming! Relive the classics from the late 70s, 80s, and a touch of early 90s nostalgia.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): This zone delves into the mechanics of game design, exploring gameplay structures, interaction mechanics, and design principles. Consider it an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the evolution of gaming.

Visiting GAMM:

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets are €15. Visit the official GAMM website for more information.
