NieR: Automata offers more than just intense android-machine warfare. Take a break from the battles and explore the peaceful side of the game with fishing! This optional activity can be easily skipped, but it's a surprisingly efficient way to earn quick cash and acquire rare items without expending resources on combat.

How to Fish in NieR: Automata

Fishing is simple and can be done in almost any body of water, even shallow puddles! Just stand still in the water, and a fishing prompt will appear above your character's head. Hold the button to cast your Pod:

• PlayStation: O button
• Xbox: B button
• PC: Enter key

Once cast, wait for your Pod to be pulled underwater with a distinct "plop." Quickly press the same button again to reel in your catch. React fast; otherwise, the fish will escape! You can cast and recast repeatedly without penalty. A helpful plug-in chip displays a fishing icon in the top right corner when fishing is possible.

Rewards for Fishing in NieR: Automata

Most fish and junk items acquired through fishing sell for a substantial amount. This makes fishing an excellent early-game method for accumulating wealth, particularly for upgrading your plug-in chip capacity.
