Eye-Steering Cars Now in Early Access on Android

Open Drive, a groundbreaking racing game for mobile devices, is now available in early access on Android. Developed by SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to helping physically disabled players access video games, in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is designed to be an inclusive gaming experience from the ground up.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is all about adaptability and player choice. Whether you prefer touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller, the game supports a variety of input methods to ensure everyone can enjoy it. A standout feature is its mobile-specific eye control, allowing players to steer by simply looking left or right using a compatible eye gaze camera. This innovation is a significant step forward in accessibility, enabling players with physical challenges to experience the game's four diverse open worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

Gameplay in Open Drive is incredibly versatile. Players can relax and drive around collecting orbs, or they can chase high scores and perform daring jumps using vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. The game also allows you to adjust the speed to your liking, making it suitable for all skill levels. Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Currently in early access on Android, Open Drive automatically detects and adjusts to the player's chosen control method, including full support for Switch Access on Android. Each input method, from touch controls to mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers, has its own tailored setup. For touch, players can choose between 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes, which allow steering through tapping or directional control.

While the eye control feature is not yet fully implemented in the early access version, it will be available when the full version launches later this summer. You can explore Open Drive now on the Google Play Store. For more gaming news, don't miss our coverage on the No Man’s Sky-like RPG shooter, Auroria: A Playful Journey, also available on Android.
