DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter

The DOOM community's boundless creativity knows no limits, constantly pushing the boundaries of where this classic shooter can run. Recently, NyanSatan achieved the remarkable feat of running DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This seemingly unconventional platform, boasting its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz, was successfully harnessed to power the game. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, utilizing a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory for data transfer.

Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration surfaces. DOOM: The Dark Ages promises increased accessibility through extensive customization options. Players can adjust demon aggression, enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, damage intake, and even the overall game tempo and parry timing. This focus on accessibility is a deliberate design choice, according to executive producer Marty Stratton, who emphasizes the studio's commitment to making the game enjoyable for a wider audience.

Furthermore, Stratton confirms that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand the storylines of either DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal, making these titles accessible to newcomers and veterans alike.
