The DIGIMON CON 2025 event brought exciting news for fans of the Digimon franchise, spotlighting two major developments: the new mobile TCG, Digimon Alysion, and the upcoming game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger. These announcements promise to enrich the Digimon universe with innovative gameplay and expanded content.
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco unveiled Digimon Alysion, a fresh mobile trading card game currently in development. Inspired by the success of mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, Digimon Alysion aims to capture a broader audience by bringing the beloved franchise into the mobile gaming arena.
Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital TCG, allowing players to collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters, construct their decks, and engage in battles with other players. A standout feature of Digimon Alysion is its anticipated in-depth story mode, which promises to offer players a rich narrative experience alongside traditional and competitive gameplay.
Alongside the announcement, Bandai released a trailer that provided glimpses of the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. The new characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon named Gemmon.
While no specific release date has been announced for Digimon Alysion, the presentation hinted at an upcoming closed beta test, with further details to be shared later.
The event also shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, its main characters, and showcased the special moves of several featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all popular from the original Digimon Adventure anime. These choices align with fan speculations based on the game's promotional artwork.
Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon, surpassing the 330 Digimon featured in its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory.
Hara also introduced the game's protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization dedicated to uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. The game's narrative will revolve around the concept of time, with the protagonist navigating through different eras.
The event also featured other announcements, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these exciting developments, the Digimon franchise is poised for a vibrant future.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates and in-depth coverage on these exciting new additions to the Digimon universe.
