Deadpool Ends Marvel Universe Trilogy with Final Bloodshed

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 25,2025

The Merc with a Mouth returns for the final chapter in his multiversal massacre! Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajić reunite once more for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time, a sprawling epic where Wade Wilson's bloody rampage transcends a single universe and engulfs the entire Marvel multiverse.

IGN recently spoke with Bunn about this explosive conclusion to the unofficial trilogy. Below is an exclusive preview, followed by insights into the carnage to come.

Bunn, a prolific Deadpool writer, revealed he initially pitched a multiverse-spanning story early on. While the initial concept evolved, the core idea of a multiversal conflict proved the perfect escalation for the series. This time, Deadpool faces off against everything from Cap-Wolves and Worldbreaker Hulks to wildly distorted versions of classic Marvel characters.

The multiverse provides limitless creative avenues, allowing Bunn and Talajić to showcase unique interpretations of familiar heroes and villains. Bunn emphasizes the extensive research into the "best" (and "worst") variants, resulting in what he calls the most epic Deadpool story yet. He remains tight-lipped about specific matchups, teasing only the inclusion of characters unseen in over 30 years.

Talajić's artistic style, already a highlight of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, continues to evolve. While the overall style remains consistent, his interpretations of different worlds and character variants add a layer of visual insanity.

Unlike the previous two entries, which offered distinct reasons for Deadpool's killing spree, this installment offers a fresh start, albeit with subtle connections for observant readers. The story stands alone, but hints at previous events may intrigue long-time fans.

This iteration presents a more sympathetic Deadpool than before. Bunn describes a scenario where readers might actually root for Deadpool's success, a significant shift in the narrative.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 arrives April 2nd, 2025.
