Idris Elba envisions a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has expressed his strong desire for a live-action adaptation of the game, starring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he and Reeves co-star), Elba stated that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film featuring their characters would be "Whoa."

This isn't just wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project is underway, with CD Projekt Red collaborating with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk live-action adaptation is a strong possibility.

Elba's character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic Johnny Silverhand, offer compelling potential for a dynamic on-screen partnership.

Beyond the live-action film, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025, and CD Projekt Red has teased a new animated series. Fans can expect further exciting developments in the Cyberpunk franchise.
