Cow in Mario Kart World Eats Burgers, Steak

In the midst of all the buzz about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, it's refreshing to dive into something a bit more whimsical on this Friday. IGN had the chance to experience Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York this week, and they've confirmed a delightful detail: the new Cow character from Moo Moo Meadows can indeed indulge in burgers and steak, among other treats.

For those out of the loop, Mario Kart World recently introduced the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable racer, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet. From memes to fanart, the community has embraced this once-background character with open arms. However, as news of Cow's inclusion spread, fans raised an intriguing question about a scene from the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer where Mario is seen eating a burger. Given that burgers are typically made from beef, could Cow, who represents a species that might be a source of beef, partake in such a meal?

Imagine if the cow gets a transformation costume.

At the Nintendo preview event, IGN got the answer. The food items seen in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations throughout the game's courses, functioning like drive-thru stops where racers can grab take-out similar to an item box. The menu is diverse, featuring burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts. And yes, Cow can consume them all.

During their session, IGN observed Cow enjoying a variety of food items, including the controversial burger. While other characters undergo costume changes upon consuming these items, Cow doesn't seem to experience any visible effects. This raises questions about whether Cow is simply enjoying the taste, or if there's an undisclosed power-up at play. Could these be veggie burgers or plant-based kebabs?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has yet to receive a response. We can only assume they're preoccupied with their New York event and not dodging this quirky inquiry.
