The latest Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of exciting news for Capcom fans. Highlights include a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, reveals for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – New Details Revealed

PlayTargeted for a 2026 release, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* promises a compelling experience built on three pillars: memorable characters, a fresh protagonist, and engaging enemies. The developers aim to faithfully recreate the historical setting of Kyoto, incorporating real-life locations. The ultimate goal? Delivering visceral, satisfying sword combat for players of all skill levels. While details on the protagonist remain scarce, we know the game is set in the Edo period and features battles against Genma. A twist of fate grants our hero an Oni Gauntlet, a powerful weapon fueled by the souls of defeated foes. The challenge will be significant, but balanced to be enjoyable for a wide range of players.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered for 2025

PlayThe 2002 classic, *Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny*, receives a remastered release in 2025, bridging the gap until *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*'s arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 – Arkveld Awaits

PlayThe second *Monster Hunter Wilds* Open Beta test introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging new quest. Also included are a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Progress from the first beta can be transferred, and returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Cross-play will be enabled.

The Open Beta will run:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT
PlayCharacter data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies

The new story trailer showcases the frigid Iceshard Cliffs, home to new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and the formidable Gore Magala. More details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 – May 16th Release

Play*Capcom Fighting Collection 2* launches May 16th, 2025, featuring *Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro*, *Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001*, *Capcom Fighting Evolution*, *Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper*, *Power Stone*, *Power Stone 2*, *Project Justice*, and *Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein*.

Street Fighter 6 – Mai Arrives February 5th

PlayFatal Fury's Mai joins *Street Fighter 6*'s roster on February 5th, as the penultimate Year 2 character (following M. Bison and Terry). Elena will be the final addition, with more details to come.
