According to a report from Deadline, the previously shelved Warner Bros. film, Coyote vs. Acme, might soon be hitting the big screen thanks to ongoing negotiations with Ketchup Entertainment, an independent film production and distribution company based in Los Angeles. While the deal has yet to be finalized, a successful negotiation could see the movie released in theaters in 2026.

Originally announced in 2022, Coyote vs. Acme draws its inspiration from a 1990 New Yorker article by Ian Frazier. The film, co-written by James Gunn and featuring stars Will Forte and John Cena, was set for a mid-2023 release on Max but was unexpectedly shelved despite being fully completed. Fans and supporters have been actively campaigning to save the movie ever since.

Ketchup Entertainment, known for rescuing Warner Bros.' The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie from a similar fate, has a track record of bringing films back to life. They secured a theatrical release for The Day the Earth Blew Up, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas in the US, with IGN describing it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Other notable projects from Ketchup Entertainment include Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. Additionally, the company co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 biopic Ferrari.
