The wait is nearly over! After a decade in development, BioWare will announce the release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard in a special trailer airing today, August 15th, at 9:00 A.M. PDT (12:00 P.M. EDT).

BioWare shared the exciting news on Twitter (X), stating their eagerness to share this moment with fans. They also detailed a roadmap of upcoming reveals leading up to launch:

A Decade of Development

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, marked by several delays spanning almost a decade. Development started in 2015, after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare’s focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and delaying the project, then codenamed "Joplin." Further complicating matters, the initial design didn't align with the company's live-service strategy, resulting in a complete development halt.

The Veilguard was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before receiving its current title.

Despite the challenges, the wait is almost over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Prepare for your return to Thedas—the journey is nearing its end!
