Batman Game Sequel Seeks Director

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 25,2025

Rocksteady Studios is actively seeking a Game Director for their next major project, as evidenced by a job posting from Warner Bros. Discovery on February 17th.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting a high-caliber game design, encompassing core gameplay mechanics, player progression, combat systems, and mission structure. Experience across diverse genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee-focused combat titles, is highly desirable. This has fueled speculation about a potential return to the Batman franchise, the series that catapulted Rocksteady to prominence.

The requirements strongly align with the studio's acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, unlike their recent release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which emphasized ranged combat over hand-to-hand fighting.

As Rocksteady is in the initial recruitment phase, the project is likely in its conceptual stages. Industry expert Jason Schreier suggests that, should a new single-player Batman title materialize, it wouldn't launch for several years.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, released February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), received mixed critical reception (Metacritic score: 63/100) and a considerably lower player rating (4.2/10).

Previous reports hinted at a possible Rocksteady Batman project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
