PAC-MAN Mobile Game Ends July 31

Bandai Namco has confirmed the discontinuation of PAC-MAN Mobile. It feels particularly symbolic, as the legendary game icon marks its 45th anniversary this year. This specific mobile version originally launched over ten years ago.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were already removed as of April 1st. For those who still enjoy the game, it will remain accessible until the final day in May.

Many in the community have shared their frustration that Bandai Namco is removing the game entirely rather than offering an offline version. An offline mode would satisfy players and could still generate some revenue.

Previously titled PAC-MAN + Tournaments, this edition offered more than just a nostalgic arcade experience. In addition to the classic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode filled with numerous original mazes to explore.

Adventure Mode introduced limited-time themed events where players could unlock exclusive character skins. The Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty settings. The game also included a wide variety of customization options for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the control stick, and other elements.

The Reason

The game's performance has been declining for the past few years. An accumulation of persistent bugs and technical problems likely contributed significantly to the decision to shut it down.

Many recall the excitement during its early years on Android, when players competed for high scores and leaderboard positions. It was a genuinely engaging experience at the time.
