Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again

Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Date Shifts to March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing, incorporating player feedback into the final product.

The game's journey to release has been punctuated by delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While the initial delay was attributed to general development needs, this latest postponement directly addresses player feedback.

Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial time for refining and polishing the game.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced. The smaller timeframe may mitigate potential player dissatisfaction compared to the previous three-month postponement.

This latest delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player-centric game development. The company experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting this internal review and a renewed focus on player feedback. The decision to incorporate fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this company-wide initiative.
