Best Android PS2 Emulator: What PS2 Emulator Should I use On Android?

Experience PlayStation 2 gaming on your Android device! Once a seemingly impossible feat, PS2 emulation on Android is now a reality. This article guides you to the best options and how to use them.

The Top Choice: NetherSX2

While AetherSX2 was previously the leading PS2 emulator for Android, development has ceased, and it's no longer officially available. Beware of fraudulent websites offering downloads—they often contain malware.

Instead, we recommend joining the AetherSX2 Fan Community Discord server. This community provides links to archived versions of AetherSX2's best iterations and crucially, offers access to NetherSX2. NetherSX2 is based on AetherSX2's code but addresses some of its later performance issues and even surpasses it in certain aspects.

Alternative Emulators (Proceed with Caution):

  • Play!: This emulator is still under development. While free, its emulation capabilities are very basic, and most games will be unplayable. It's an option if you're willing to experiment with a very early-stage project.

  • DamonPS2: We strongly advise against using DamonPS2. It's readily available on the Google Play Store, but its performance is poor, and there are significant concerns regarding the use of stolen code by its developers. The other emulators mentioned here are far superior.
