Author:Kristen Update:May 17,2025

Dell has recently revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 series of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, these systems were limited to a single graphics card option, the RTX 5080. However, a significant update now allows you to equip your Alienware Area-51 with the powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the much-anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at an impressive $5,499.99. What's even better is that you won't have to wait long; Dell estimates shipping will begin in early April.

The $5,500 "base" configuration for the Alienware Area-51 with an RTX 5090 GPU offers robust specifications. It includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. Although it doesn't surpass the i9-14900K as hoped, it remains the best option from Intel at the moment. The system is cooled efficiently by a large 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell showcased the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The updated chassis, while resembling the 2024 R16 model, features enhanced aesthetics and cooling solutions, along with upgraded components. The I/O panel has been repositioned to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design for a cleaner interior. Inside, the system boasts a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

----------------------------------------------------

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most formidable consumer GPU available. While Nvidia has focused on software enhancements, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay, the RTX 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% increase in raster performance over the RTX 4090. It also features more and faster VRAM, with 32GB of GDDR7 compared to the 4090's 24GB of GDDR6. However, finding this GPU at its retail price is challenging, with eBay listings ranging from $3,500 to $4,000.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas:

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, though the improvement in traditional non-AI gaming performance is modest. The RTX 5090's generational uplift is one of the smallest in recent times. However, in games compatible with DLSS 4, the performance gains are substantial, though you must accept that 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
