AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many others across various gaming genres.

AGDQ, a prominent winter event hosted annually by Games Done Quick (GDQ), is one of two major GDQ events each year, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick marathon in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Noteworthy is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick event, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a swift Pikmin (Switch) run by Ray0ken. The event's overall success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and community outreach programs. This partnership between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised for the foundation through various GDQ events.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing covers of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a nail-biting finish with two runners separated by a mere second. Looking ahead, GDQ will next host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis from July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
