Tiktok est officiellement interdit aux États-Unis. Les utilisateurs qui tentent d'accéder à l'application sont rencontrés par un message indiquant son indisponibilité en raison d'une loi nouvellement promulguée. La Cour suprême des États-Unis a rejeté à l'unanimité l'appel final de Tiktok, invoquant des problèmes de sécurité nationale liés à la collecte de données et à ses liens avec un adversaire étranger, malgré la reconnaissance de la popularité et de la fonction expressive de Tiktok pour des millions d'Américains. La décision de la Cour souligne la détermination du Congrès selon laquelle le désinvestissement est nécessaire.

Alors que Tiktok espère la réintégration sous le président Trump, un calendrier définitif reste incertain. Le président Trump a laissé entendre un retard potentiel de 90 jours à l'interdiction, permettant à un acheteur américain ou allié d'acquérir l'application. Cette panne d'acquisition a directement conduit à l'interdiction. Parallèlement, plusieurs applications liées à ByTedance, la société mère de Tiktok, dont Capcut, Lemon8 et Marvel Snap, ont également été désactivées.
