Une souris de jeu d'un Redditor a spontanément brûlé, provoquant presque un incendie de maison. L'utilisateur, U/Lommelinn, a rapporté se réveiller à l'odeur de la fumée et découvrir sa souris Gigabyte M6880X englouti dans les flammes. L'incident s'est produit pendant que leur PC était en mode veille.

Les dommages qui en résultent sont significatifs, le boîtier supérieur de la souris est complètement fondu et brûle les marques sur le bureau et la souris. Les images partagées en ligne montrent l'étendue des dégâts. La cause reste claire, d'autant plus que la souris est un modèle optique câblé sans batterie interne et un tirage à faible puissance (5V à 0,5 A via USB 2.0). Seul le boîtier supérieur a été gravement affecté, ajoutant au mystère.

Gigabyte a reconnu l'incident et a lancé une enquête, en contactant l'utilisateur pour offrir un support. Dans un communiqué, ils ont souligné la sécurité des clients comme leur priorité absolue.

U/Lommelinn a exprimé un étonnement, notant que leur PC était en mode veille et que les vérifications de tension ultérieures sur le port USB n'ont révélé aucun problème. La nature inattendue de l'événement souligne le potentiel d'échecs matériels imprévus, même dans des appareils apparemment inoffensifs.
