Forlowing, un an après le lancement, continue de déclencher des discussions animées entre les joueurs, même avec sa disponibilité gratuite PS Plus. La réception du jeu reste fortement divisée, avec ceux qui l'ont joué gratuitement en faisant écho à de nombreux sentiments exprimés par ceux qui l'ont acheté au prix fort.

L'annonce de décembre 2024 PS Plus Extra et Premium a révélé une anticipation étonnamment positive pour Forlowing (aux côtés de Sonic Frontiers). Cependant, une partie importante des joueurs a abandonné le jeu en quelques heures, citant une mauvaise narration et un "dialogue ridicule" comme des inconvénients majeurs. Alors que certains appréciaient le combat, le parkour et l'exploration, le consensus global indique le récit et le dialogue comme des dissuasions importantes pour le plaisir.

Il semble peu probable que PS plus relance considérablement la fortune de Forpoken, compte tenu de ses incohérences inhérentes. Le RPG d'action suit Frey, un New-Yorkais transporté dans la terre à couper le souffle mais périlleuse d'Athia. Armé de nouvelles capacités magiques, Frey doit naviguer dans ce monde vaste, luttant contre des créatures monstrueuses et des matriarches puissantes connues sous le nom de Tants, le tout dans une tentative désespérée de rentrer chez elle.
