In einem aufschlussreichen Interview bei Gamescom hat der Mitbegründer von Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, den einzigartigen Ansatz, NetherRealm Studios, mit Omni-Man und Homelander in der kommenden Mortal Kombat 1 beleuchtet. Boon befasste sich mit der Besorgnis der Community über diese beiden ikonischen Charaktere, die möglicherweise ähnliche Kampfstile teilen, und versicherte den Fans, dass sich das Entwicklungsteam für jeweils unterschiedliche Erfahrungen einsetzt.

Boon betonte die kreative Freiheit, die das Team bei der Gestaltung dieser Charaktere genossen hat, und stellte sicher, dass es sich nicht über ihre Fähigkeiten überschneidet, insbesondere die Gefahr, dass beide identischen Superman-ähnlichen Kräfte verfügen. Die Unterscheidung geht über den grundlegenden Kampf hinaus; Boon enthüllte, dass sich das Team von den Aktionen der Charaktere in ihren jeweiligen Shows inspirieren ließ, um einzigartige Todesfälle für jeden zu erstellen.
