Berühmt für seine Verkörperung von Roronoa Zoro in One Piece, wird Mackenyu in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, einem im feudalen Japan angesiedelten Spiel, Gennojo sowohl auf Japanisch als auch auf Englisch seine Stimme leihen. Ubisoft beschreibt Gennojo als eine wichtige Figur, die dem Protagonisten dabei hilft, ein bedeutendes Ziel aufzuspüren und auszuschalten.

„Gennojo ist eine charismatische, aber gequälte Gestalt, getrieben von Schuldgefühlen, ein korruptes System herauszufordern.
