Timeless Classic Resurrected: 30-Year Retrospective with PC & PS1 Nostalgia

Microids is bringing back the beloved 1994 action-adventure game, Little Big Adventure, with a modern remake titled Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, launching this autumn on all major platforms. This updated version retains the original's charm while boasting significant 21st-century enhancements.

Developed by the rising studio 2.21 and published by Microids (currently developing a new Totally Spies game), Twinsen's Quest is a labor of love, given the original developers, Adeline Software International (now defunct), were a subsidiary of Delphine Software International and comprised largely of Infogrames alumni. Frederick Raynal, Infogrames' former designer/lead programmer and creator of the original Little Big Adventure, is intrinsically linked to this project.

The new trailer showcases a revitalized Twinsun, featuring stunning visuals and improved gameplay. Key features of the remake include a captivating story with thought-provoking themes, redesigned level layouts and controls, an enhanced version of Twinsen's signature weapon, a fresh artistic style, and a new soundtrack composed by the original composer, Philippe Vachey (also known for his work on the Alone in the Dark series with Raynal).

A Journey Back to Twinsun

Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest plunges players into the harmonious world of Twinsun, home to four unique sentient species. This idyllic existence is shattered by Dr. Funfrock's inventions – cloning and teleportation – granting him tyrannical control over Twinsun's inhabitants. Players take on the role of Twinsen, embarking on an epic adventure filled with challenging puzzles and formidable enemies to overthrow Dr. Funfrock and restore peace to Twinsun.

The game's history includes a 2011 GOG.com re-release for PC and Mac, followed by Android and iOS versions. Hints of a new installment emerged as early as 2021, with announcements from 2.21 and co-creator Didier Chanfray (of Time Commando fame). Now, their dedication culminates in Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, set to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG) later this year.
