NPCs Swarm Player in Hilarious Pokémon Gameplay Encounter

A Pokémon player's popularity has reached a new level—or perhaps a glitch. A short video shows the player trapped, besieged by relentless phone calls from two persistent NPCs.

Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls might be friendly updates, story developments, or rematch requests. However, this player's experience is far from typical.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder shared a video showcasing their predicament. While standing in a Pokémon Center, they're instantly bombarded with calls. First, Wade the Bug Catcher shares his training progress; then, Youngster Joey proposes a rematch on Route 30.

The relentless calls continue. Joey's call repeats immediately, followed by another call from Wade. This cycle repeats endlessly.

The reason for this call bombardment is unclear. While Youngster Joey is known for repetitive calls, this situation is extreme. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players joked that the NPCs are simply eager for conversation.

Though players can delete phone numbers, the game automatically answers incoming calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped the endless loop, but the process was challenging. Finding a brief window between calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center proved difficult. This experience has left them hesitant to register new numbers, fearing a repeat of the endless call loop.
