Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009: A Double-Edged Sword of Content and Bugs

Stellar Blade's highly anticipated update, Patch 1.009, delivered the promised Photo Mode and NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, but unfortunately, also introduced several game-breaking glitches. Players have reported being softlocked during a main quest in an earlier dungeon, preventing progression. Further issues include game crashes when utilizing the Photo Mode's selfie camera, and cosmetic items from the DLC failing to render correctly on the character Eve.

Shift Up, the game's developers, are actively working on a hotfix to address these problems. They advise players to avoid forcing quest progression and patiently await the patch, as attempts to circumvent the bugs might lead to permanent softlocks even after the fix is implemented.

NieR: Automata Collaboration and Photo Mode Enhancements

Patch 1.009 boasts a substantial amount of new content beyond the unforeseen bugs. The NieR: Automata collaboration is a highlight, stemming from the mutual respect and creative synergy between directors Kim Hyung Tae and Yoko Taro. Eleven exclusive collaboration items are available by interacting with the NieR character Emil, who has established a shop within Stellar Blade's world.

The much-requested Photo Mode has finally arrived, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. To further enhance this feature, four new outfits for Eve have been added, along with a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) that modifies the appearance of Tachy Mode. Additional customization options include a "No Ponytail" setting and improved lip-sync support for six languages. Gameplay improvements encompass enhanced projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functionality for the instant death skill, alongside various smaller bug fixes. The update aims to provide a more polished and enjoyable gaming experience, despite the initial setbacks caused by the introduced bugs.
