Пришёлся ли вам по душе анимационный сериал Netflix по мотивам «Devil May Cry» или нет, создатель Ади Шанкар подтверждает, что второй сезон предложит кардинально иной опыт по сравнению с первым — давая критикам ещё один шанс пересмотреть своё мнение.

«Второй сезон превращается в нечто совершенно иное», — написал в твиттере 23 июня продюсер «Судьи» в ответ на интерес фанатов. — «Данте значительно взрослеет — оттачивая свои способности и воплощая больше той легендарной крутизны, которой ждут геймеры. Но настоящая история требует большего, чем постоянные победы. Данте определяет не его неуязвимость, а его неуклонное развитие через невзгоды».

Несмотря на эти заверения, поклонники франшизы Capcom выразили недовольство адаптационными решениями по всей ветке обсуждения. Один из критиков указал на ключевые претензии, касающиеся развития персонажей.

«Важнее то, как преподносится развитие, а не само развитие», — парировал пользователь Twitter. — «Фанаты протестуют не против постепенного прогресса Данте, а против неверного толкования его основного пути — и с аркой Леди ситуация аналогичная».

Это творческое расхождение проистекает из сознательного решения Шанкара создать альтернативную вселенную, а не строго придерживаться установленного канона.

«Каждая интеллектуальная собственность требует уникального подхода», — пояснил Шанкар, говоря об адаптациях видеоигр. — «Многогранный существующий лор «Devil May Cry» в разных медиа определил наш подход — создание новой сюжетной цепочки освободило нас, позволив уловить суть, минуя ограничения установленных хронологий».

Хотя дата выхода второго сезона не назначена, Netflix дал зелёный свет производству в апреле прошлого года после результатов первого сезона.

Обзор первого сезона от IGN оценил его на 8/10, назвав «занимательной, хоть и шаблонной, адаптацией игры, содержащей один из сильнейших анимационных эпизодов этого года».
