Summary

  • Renzik "The Shiv" dies in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.
  • Gazlowe leads a revolution after Renzik's sacrifice, targeting Gallywix in the Liberation of Undermine raid.
  • Gallywix faces a possible demise as the final boss in the new raid.

In the narrative arc of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, titled "Undermined," players witness the dramatic demise of Renzik "The Shiv." This pivotal moment unfolds during the story campaign when Gallywix, in a sinister move to assassinate Gazlowe, inadvertently causes Renzik's death. Renzik, a long-standing Goblin Rogue who has been a part of World of Warcraft since its inception, plays a crucial role in the unfolding events of this patch.

World of Warcraft has recently introduced Patch 11.1 for testing on the Public Test Realm, giving the community an early glimpse into its contents. Players have explored new features, including unique collectibles like campsites, and delved into the majority of the campaign chapters set to be included in the update. A significant part of the campaign involves a journey to the Goblin capital, Undermine, where players, alongside Gazlowe and Renzik, aim to thwart Gallywix's plans and secure the Dark Heart before Xal'atath.

The campaign introduces a shocking plot twist that catches many fans off guard. Gazlowe, expressing his disdain for Undermine and reluctance to engage in its political turmoil, is persuaded by Renzik to intervene for the city's betterment. However, their interference in Gallywix's schemes triggers a sniper attack intended for Gazlowe, which Renzik heroically intercepts. This moment, documented and shared by World of Warcraft enthusiast and Wowhead lore analyst Portergauge on Twitter, marks a significant turning point in the patch's storyline.

Renzik "The Shiv" Dies in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1

Although Renzik "The Shiv" may not be the most prominent character in World of Warcraft, he is a familiar figure, particularly to Alliance Rogues. As one of the initial Rogue quest givers and trainers in Stormwind when the game launched two decades ago, Renzik predates the playable Goblin race by six years, making him one of the oldest Goblin NPCs in the game.

Renzik's death, however, is far from meaningless. It serves as a catalyst for Gazlowe, galvanizing him to take decisive action against Gallywix. Inspired by Renzik's sacrifice, Gazlowe rallies the other Trade Princes and the citizens of Undermine, sparking a revolution that culminates in the new Liberation of Undermine raid. Gallywix's failed attempt to eliminate Gazlowe inadvertently transforms Renzik into a martyr, fueling the uprising.

Moreover, Renzik's death may not be the only significant casualty in Patch 11.1. Gallywix, the self-proclaimed Chrome King, emerges as the final boss in the Liberation of Undermine raid, set to be released with the patch. Given the track record of final raid bosses in World of Warcraft, Gallywix's survival seems unlikely, hinting at a potentially grim fate for this iconic Goblin character.
