"Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Leaks Post-Cancellation"

Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Footage Resurfaces

Leaked gameplay footage of Transformers: Reactivate has resurfaced online following the game's recent cancellation. Announced by developer Splash Damage in 2022, the co-op multiplayer game was set to feature iconic Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons teaming up against an alien threat to save Earth.

Since its reveal at The Game Awards 2022, little had been shown of Transformers: Reactivate, with only occasional leaks and a few related action figures surfacing. As fans grew increasingly concerned about the game's status, Splash Damage officially confirmed its cancellation, redirecting focus to other projects and potentially leading to staff layoffs.

Shortly after the cancellation, previously leaked footage from a 2020 build of the game re-emerged. The clips showcase Bumblebee navigating a devastated urban landscape, seamlessly transforming between his robot and buggy-like vehicle forms, and engaging enemies with various weapons. The gameplay bears a resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but instead of battling Decepticons, Bumblebee faces off against an alien force known as "the Legion," the game's intended main antagonists.

Despite some missing textures, the footage appears polished, featuring environmental destruction as Bumblebee maneuvers through trees toward his objective. An incomplete cutscene at the end of the clip shows Bumblebee emerging from a portal in front of New York City's ruins, communicating with an ally named Devin about the Legion's attacks.

Numerous other leaks from 2020 offer further insight into what Splash Damage had envisioned for Transformers: Reactivate. Although players will never experience the game firsthand, these leaks provide a window into the ambitious but ultimately unrealized multiplayer title.
