Discard players, get ready to celebrate! Khonshu, the God of the Moon, has arrived in *Marvel Snap* and is set to revolutionize discard-centric decks. This card is one of the most intricate releases from Second Dinner yet, so let's dive into how Khonshu functions and how you can maximize his potential.
Khonshu is a 6-cost, 5-power card with a complex ability: When discarded, he returns in his next phase. His initial ability states: On Reveal: Resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 5.
Each time Khonshu is discarded, he returns to your hand and upgrades, enhancing his On Reveal effect. This mechanic is reminiscent of Apocalypse, but with a twist. The goal is often to discard Khonshu one or two times before playing him on the final turn, reviving a card like Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher that benefits from the power boost.
Although Khonshu can't revive a specific card, deploying a 12-power final phase Khonshu on turn 6 to revive a 1-cost card like Meek, now at 12 power, can be game-changing.
Finding the perfect deck for Khonshu might require some experimentation, as he may not seamlessly fit into traditional discard decks. However, he could be a great addition to a Darkhawk-style Stature list and other alternative discard-type decks. Here's an example of the former:

This deck includes only one Series 5 card, Fenris Wolf, which is crucial as resurrecting an opponent's discarded card via Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, or Black Bolt can be a win condition.
The strategy involves filling your opponent's deck with rocks to boost Darkhawk and discarding Khonshu as frequently as possible. Cards like Moon Knight and Blade will repeatedly hit Khonshu, while you need to time your discards carefully to maximize the impact.
Play Stature early, then Darkhawk on turn 5, and Khonshu on turn 6 to revive a card with 8 to 12 power. As all these cards have less than 8 power, Khonshu directly enhances their effectiveness.
For those interested in a more traditional discard approach, consider pairing Khonshu with Apocalypse, though this requires energy ramp, like from Corvus Glaive:

Scorn is the only Series 5 card here and can be replaced with other discard activators like Colleen Wing or X-23 for additional energy ramp.
This deck leans on traditional discard mechanics but relies on Corvus Glaive to enable playing Khonshu alongside other discard activators, boosting Apocalypse and flooding the board. Whether this setup will outperform traditional discard lists without Khonshu is still up for debate, but achieving Khonshu's final phase is feasible with Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif, while keeping Apocalypse strong for Dracula.
Khonshu is both a powerful and intriguing card, appealing even to those who aren't typically fans of discard strategies. His potential to become a staple in hybrid discard decks suggests he could be meta-relevant. If you have the resources, Khonshu is definitely worth acquiring with your Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector's Tokens.
