Ultimate Gathering Armor Combination

When you're specifically farming materials in MH Wilds, you'll want to assemble this optimal armor configuration:

  • Sild Hood
  • Conga Mail or Melahoa Jacket
  • G. Rathalos Vambraces or Leather Gloves
  • High Metal Coil or Suja Sash
  • Azuz Pants
  • Marathon Charm or Intimidator Charm

The Sild Hood is practically essential - it provides the crucial Botanist skill that dramatically improves your gathering efficiency. Personally, I prefer running Intimidator to avoid pesky small monster interruptions, which pairs perfectly with Conga Mail and Guardian Rathalos Vambraces. Though if you prefer different bonuses, the Leather alternatives work too.

The Azuz Pants are mandatory - their Geologist 3 skill makes gathering significantly more productive.

For your Charm selection, choose between Marathon or Intimidator based on your armor choices. Didn't take Intimidator on armor? Grab the charm version instead.

Must-Have Gathering Skills

Beyond the right armor pieces, you'll need these essential active skills:

SkillBenefit
BotanistBoosts herb and consumable gathering yields
GeologistIncreases items obtained from gathering nodes
IntimidatorReduces aggro from smaller monsters
Aquatic/Oilslit MobilityImproves movement in liquids
EntomologistPreserves insect corpses for carving
OutdoorsmanEnhances fishing and cooking

From experience, Botanist and Geologist are absolutely non-negotiable. Even if your armor isn't fully optimized yet, prioritize these two skills above all others. The rest can be gradually incorporated as you progress.
