Author:Kristen Update:Apr 17,2025

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's innovative venture into the Star Wars universe, will be shutting down just over a year after its initial launch on iOS and Android devices. Launched in June 2024, the game quickly caught the attention of fans with its unique blend of game show-style competition and fresh interpretations of iconic Star Wars characters.

The closure of Star Wars: Hunters is scheduled for October 1st of this year. Before the curtains close, a final content update will be released on April 15th. In response to the shutdown, Zynga has announced that players can now request refunds for any in-game currency they've purchased. Additionally, to give fans more time to enjoy the game, season three will be extended, and certain seasonal events will be rerun.

Fans eagerly awaiting the introduction of the last hunter, Tuya, will still have the chance to play with this character in multiplayer mode. Tuya will be available for free to all players as part of the final content update.

Star Wars: Hunters Final Update

The decision to shutter Star Wars: Hunters came as a surprise to many, given the lack of prior indications that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust standing in the gaming industry, it suggests that broader market factors, such as genre saturation and shifting demographics within the Star Wars fanbase, may have played a role in this decision. The game's focus on a high-energy, pseudo-hero shooter style might not have resonated with an audience that is increasingly composed of older fans who may not be seeking such intense mobile gaming experiences.
