Silksong Set to Launch on Original Switch as Planned

Fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong can breathe a sigh of relief as the game's developer, Team Cherry, has confirmed that the much-anticipated title will still be released for the original Nintendo Switch, alongside the upcoming Switch 2. This assurance comes after concerns arose when Silksong made a brief appearance during the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, leading some to speculate that it might skip the current-gen console.

Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release for Switch 1

Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the first-generation Switch, Silksong saw its platform list expand to include PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, the recent Switch 2 Direct sparked fears that the game might bypass the original Switch. Addressing these concerns, Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) on April 8 to clarify that Silksong is indeed slated for release on both the original Switch and the Switch 2.

While specifics on how the versions will differ remain under wraps, it's anticipated that the Switch 2 version will benefit from higher resolution and enhanced features of the new console.

New Silksong Images Revealed

Following the Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo Japan's official website unveiled new images of Silksong. Although the settings in these images are familiar from previous reveals, fans have noted subtle graphical enhancements since the game's initial showcase in 2019.

Despite Team Cherry's reticence about the game's details, the recent Switch 2 Direct appearance and the updated images have fueled speculation that a release date announcement could be imminent. Additionally, recent changes to Silksong's Steam metadata have further stoked fans' hopes for a 2025 release.
