Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, leaving even Movie Sonic puzzled by Shrek's fresh appearance.

In a humorous video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to the well-received version released months later.

IGN was the first to showcase the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the initial reaction was mixed. Fans were particularly vocal about the character's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and oddly human-like fingers.

In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to revamp the controversial design, promising a more authentic representation of the iconic character. The revised design was much better received.

Although the response to Shrek's new look isn't as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action debut, Sonic's playful reaction has entertained fans nonetheless.

"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one commenter noted, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.

PlayThe fifth Shrek movie was first announced in 2016 but remained dormant for years until Chris Meledandri, CEO of animation studio Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside this announcement, there were also plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has postponed the release of Shrek 5 to December 23, 2026, and moved the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its former slot.
