How to Get Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds

Screenshot by The EscapistSharp Fangs are crucial for crafting early-game gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. You can start your hunt for these fangs right from the beginning of the game in the Windward Plains.

To begin your search, take on one of the first available optional quests, such as “Beware the Chatacabra” or “The Desert is Demanding.” These quests will lead you to the Windward Plains, offering a generous 50-minute time frame. Remember to boost your stats by cooking and eating a meal before setting off.

Once you arrive, head east to Area 8, the largest zone on the map, teeming with smaller monsters. While several creatures here might drop Sharp Fangs, your primary target should be the Gaijos.

Gaijos

Gaijos marked on a map in Monster Hunter WildsGaijos are small leviathan monsters resembling crocodiles with unique snouts, often found near or swimming in riverbeds. You can locate them easily by scanning the interactive map for purple diamonds near water sources.

Approach a Gaijos location and swiftly take it down with your equipped weapon—they're relatively easy to defeat. After defeating a Gaijos, carve its carcass to obtain 1 x Sharp Fang. Gaijos are a sure bet for Sharp Fangs, making them a top priority. With four to five Gaijos typically present in the Windward Plains, you can repeatedly enter through optional quests to farm more fangs as needed.

Talioth

Though they're slightly tougher, they're still manageable with starter weapons. Carving Talioth carcasses might yield other items like Talioth Scales, but you could also get lucky with Sharp Fangs. Additionally, hunting Talioths helps you complete the “The Desert is Demanding” quest, requiring you to kill 8 Talioths.
