Relic Entertainment Unveils Earth vs. Mars Game

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 16,2025

Relic Entertainment, the renowned developers behind Company of Heroes, are venturing into new territory with their upcoming game, *Earth vs. Mars*. Set to launch this Summer on PC via Steam, this smaller-scale turn-based strategy game draws inspiration from the beloved Nintendo DS classic, *Advance Wars*. In *Earth vs. Mars*, players take on the crucial role of defending our planet from a Martian invasion by harnessing the power of the Splice-O-Tron to create unique "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids." Imagine leading armies featuring the likes of Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies into battle against the extraterrestrial threat.

According to Relic, the game's narrative unfolds against the backdrop of decades-long Martian visits to Earth. These visits were not benign; the Martians have been abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they've returned with a full-scale invasion. It falls to a diverse group of commanders to lead Earth's resistance. Players will command Earth's military forces against Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors in a desperate fight for survival.

*Earth vs. Mars* offers a rich gameplay experience with over 30 missions in its single-player campaign, alongside online multiplayer where players can choose to fight as either Earth or Mars. There's also a VS Mode for those looking to test their skills against the game's AI, and a map editor for those who wish to create their own battlefields.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the *Advance Wars* style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles." He further elaborated on Relic's new strategy, which includes not only continuing to develop traditional RTS titles but also exploring smaller Indie-style games. This approach aims to delve into new sub-genres, foster creativity, and increase the frequency of game releases.

If *Earth vs. Mars* piques your interest, you can now add it to your wishlist on Steam and prepare for an engaging strategic battle between Earth and Mars this Summer.
