In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, legendary Sumi-E are special ancient paintings of animals that Naoe or Yasuke can create while exploring the wilderness. When you're close to a potential subject, a painting icon will appear on your compass and map. To capture these moments, approach the animal quietly by crouching and holding L2/LT to complete the painting. Unlike regular Sumi-E, legendary ones won't appear on your map, making them trickier to find. There are five legendary Sumi-E in the game, each available during specific seasons and times of day.

Navigate to the Yamato region and the Yoshino sub-region during spring at night. Start from the Mountain Blossom Temple to the west and head east to reach the Sakura Meadows. Climb the slopes to a clearing where you'll find the legendary Deer, ready to be captured in your Sumi-E.
Keep in mind that even if you're in the right place at the right time, the animals might not always spawn. If this happens, try fast-traveling to a nearby location and returning to see if your luck changes. With persistence, you'll soon complete your legendary Sumi-E collection.
That's everything you need to know about completing all legendary Sumi-E in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* to earn the "A Rare Occurrence" trophy and achievement. For more tips and guides on the game, visit The Escapist.
