The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs equipped with the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards are now available for purchase. Leading retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have launched their listings today, offering gamers a prime opportunity to upgrade their systems. These prebuilts represent the best chance to get your hands on a system with the latest GPUs for a while, as major manufacturers such as Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) are not expected to release their models until the end of the first quarter.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design closely resembles the 2024 R16 model but includes minor aesthetic and cooling enhancements, along with updated components. The I/O panel has been relocated to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now spans the entire side panel, eliminating side vents. Air intakes are positioned at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that minimizes dust accumulation. Internally, the system features a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Several boutique retailers now offer the option to configure systems with RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs. iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm have updated their configurators with RTX 50-series options. While these custom builds provide flexibility, they can be pricey and may not offer the best value for money.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The big three OEMs, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, will not release their prebuilt gaming PCs with RTX 50-series GPUs until later in 2025. Dell showcased the Alienware Area-51 at CES 2025, expected to launch in the first quarter. HP plans to update the Omen 45L with the new GPUs in mid to late February, while Lenovo has not yet announced a launch date for their Legion Tower with RTX 50-series GPUs.

Nvidia unveiled its 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, focusing on enhanced AI features with DLSS 4 technology, which reportedly quadruples frame rates with minimal visual impact. These GPUs offer a modest performance increase over the previous RTX 40-series, though opinions on their value for gamers vary.

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, but the generational leap is smaller than expected. For traditional gaming, the RTX 5090's improvements are minimal. However, in games supporting DLSS 4, the performance boost is significant, albeit with 75% of frames being AI-generated."

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie expressed a similar view, stating, "For those with recent high-end graphics cards, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not justify an upgrade due to its modest performance gains over the RTX 4080. However, DLSS 4's Multi-Frame Generation enhances performance in supported games. If you're upgrading from an older GPU and are open to Nvidia's AI enhancements, the RTX 5080 is a solid choice."
