Nintendo's recent financial report has unveiled a series of exciting initiatives set to expand their iconic IPs in 2025. These plans are not only focused on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 but encompass a broader range of projects. Let's dive into what Nintendo has in store and what it means for the future of gaming.
Nintendo's financial report confirms the release of several first-party titles slated for 2025. Enthusiasts can look forward to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD hitting the shelves on January 16th, followed by Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on March 20th. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are also on the horizon for this year, though their specific release dates remain under wraps.
While no other projects have been announced yet, the anticipation builds as Nintendo gears up for a Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025. The exact broadcast time will be disclosed later through Nintendo's official website and social media channels. Although the event is expected to focus primarily on the Nintendo Switch 2, fans are eager for any news or teasers about Switch 2-exclusive titles.
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch later in 2025. According to the financial report, the console will make its debut in the latter half of the year. To build excitement, Nintendo is organizing live in-person Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events across 15 global locations, including New York, Tokyo, and Amsterdam, starting in April. Most event registrations have closed, but fans can still join a waitlist for a chance to secure a ticket. For those in Japan, ticket applications are open until February 20th JST.

In a move to further expand its IPs, Nintendo is set to open a new Super Nintendo World theme park in Orlando, Florida, at the Universal Orlando Resort’s Universal Epic Universe on May 22nd, 2025. This marks the second Super Nintendo World location in the United States, following its successful debut at Universal Studios Hollywood in February 2023. The Orlando park will feature the vibrant landscapes of Super Mario Land and the lush tropics of Donkey Kong Country from day one.
Additionally, Nintendo is planning to launch Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Singapore in 2025, though further details on this project are yet to be announced.
Nintendo's 2025 lineup promises a thrilling year for fans, with new game releases, the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and the expansion of Super Nintendo World. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach these exciting developments.
