Mask Around: The Sequel to the Bizarre Mask Up

Mask Around, the follow-up to 2020's unique roguelike platformer Mask Up, is now available on Android. This time, prepare for a blend of frantic shooting and close-quarters brawling! The signature yellow ooze returns, but with some surprising new gameplay twists.

For those unfamiliar with the original, Mask Up was a quirky game where you evolved from a small puddle of yellow goo into… well, a more muscular puddle of goo. Mask Around retains that core gameplay, but adds a significant new element: 2D shooting mechanics. Players can seamlessly switch between gunning down enemies and using their goo-based melee abilities.

However, the precious yellow ooze remains a limited resource, making strategic usage crucial, particularly during boss encounters.

A Refined Experience

Currently available on Google Play (with no iOS release announced yet), Mask Around appears to be a substantial improvement over its predecessor. While retaining the core gameplay loop, it significantly expands upon it. Resource management is now more complex, requiring players to carefully consider when to utilize their goo powers and when to rely on their weaponry. The visuals also boast a noticeable polish.

Mask Around offers a compelling mix of action and strategy. After giving it a try, be sure to check out our other recommended mobile games! Our latest list of the top five new mobile games is now live.
