LEGO has unveiled its largest Jurassic World set to date: an impressive T-rex skeleton that extends over three feet in length. This set includes minifigures of Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant, iconic characters from the original Jurassic Park film where the skeleton is famously displayed in the visitor center. Priced at $249.99, the set will be available at the LEGO Store starting March 12 for LEGO Insiders (sign up for free here) and March 15 for the general public.
LEGO Jurassic World Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex
Release Date: March 15 (March 12 for Insiders)
Price: $249.99
Pieces: 3,145
Ages: 18+
Dimensions: L: 105cm (41.3in) / H: 33cm (12.9in)
This set, designed for adults aged 18 and above, comprises 3,145 pieces and is intended primarily for display. It may incorporate advanced building techniques, making it challenging for younger builders. The scale of this set is truly appreciated once assembled, with the included minifigures providing perspective on its size. The skull of the T-rex skeleton mirrors the design of the LEGO T-rex skull currently available, which has been well-received (my son built this set, and it looks fantastic). The full skeleton significantly enhances the visual impact of this new set.

The skeleton features articulated joints, allowing for various posing options. The head can move, the jaw can open, and the arms and tail can be adjusted. True to LEGO's tradition with movie-based sets, this one includes several hidden Easter eggs to discover during the build. It also comes with a display stand and an informational plaque detailing the T-rex’s diet, habitat, and other facts.

Although LEGO's Jurassic World collection may not be as extensive as its Star Wars or Harry Potter lines, it's expanding rapidly. I'm excited to see more adult-oriented sets like this T-rex skeleton added to the lineup in the future.
