The new LEGO River Steamboat set is a stunning creation that offers an immersive and rewarding building experience. Inspired by the historic paddle boats that once navigated the Mississippi River in the 1800s, the LEGO River Steamboat captures the essence of these vessels. Originally used for industrial purposes, these boats transitioned into luxury cruise ships, offering entertainment and amenities. This transformation is echoed in modern riverboat cruises, such as the one my wife and I enjoyed on our New Orleans honeymoon, complete with dining, dancing, and live jazz.

This LEGO set is a dream for enthusiasts. It features a detailed jazz lounge and dining room, as well as practical areas like the boiler engine room that connects to the paddle wheel. Pushing the boat makes the wheel turn, while the pilothouse's steering wheel manipulates the rudder. Additional features include a kitchen, crew sleeping quarters, and an anchor on a chain, along with adjustable boarding stages.

The set, comprising 4,090 pieces, is thoughtfully divided into 32 bags for a structured build. Starting with the base, which includes the boiler room and a miniature nautical museum showcasing various steam engines, the design showcases LEGO's ability to repurpose pieces creatively. For instance, a hot dog bun from another set becomes part of the boat's engine.

Moving up to the main deck, you'll find the dining room and jazz lounge, complete with tiny LEGO instruments and elegant decor. However, the set does not include minifigures, which might limit its play aspect but emphasizes its display potential.
