In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while most achievements focus on tackling the game's largest beasts, there's a unique challenge that involves capturing one of its smallest creatures. If you're aiming to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement, here's a detailed guide to help you achieve this elusive goal.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement stands out due to its straightforward yet elusive nature. If you're not actively searching for it, you might miss it entirely. To unlock this achievement, you need to capture a rare endemic life form known as the **Sandstar**, found exclusively in the **Windward Plains**. This small creature, resembling a desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, can only be found at night.

Since the Windward Plains are typically explored during the day in the game's storyline, you'll need to manipulate time to reach nightfall. There are two effective methods to do this:

  • Fast Travel – Available early in the game once you unlock various fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to access the fast travel menu and travel between points until nightfall.
  • Rest – This option becomes available after completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content. Use your Guild Points at a base or pop-up camp to rest and choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).

The Sandstar is not only tiny but also incredibly fast, making it a challenging target even on your Seikret. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider collecting **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small winged scavengers with red bodies found in **Area 11** and **Area 13** of the Windward Plains. These pods are not mandatory but will significantly simplify the capture process.

Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep a sharp lookout for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and, if equipped, use a Screamer Pod to stun it. Quickly switch to your **Capture Net** (the same one used for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll also receive the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
