Golden Idols in Path of Exile 2: Uses and Strategies

Author:Kristen Update:May 13,2025

In *Path of Exile 2*, you'll encounter various quests, but some, like the collection of Golden Idols in Act 3, aren't as straightforward. These items, while categorized as Quest Items, don't function typically. Collecting a Golden Idol won't trigger a quest entry in your log, unlike standard Quest Items which are used to progress quests and earn rewards. Instead, Golden Idols in *Path of Exile 2* are unique in that they can be sold for a substantial amount of gold, with a total of five available for collection.

How to Obtain Golden Idols in Path of Exile 2

Upon reaching Act 3 and exploring the ruins beneath the Ziggurat Encampment, you'll be transported back in time to the Vaal city of Utzaal, now known as The Drowned City. This historical journey showcases the Vaal civilization at its peak. While navigating through Utzaal and the connected area of Aggorat, keep an eye out for the Golden Idols. These Path of Exile 2 Quest Items are scattered throughout these zones, with three located in Utzaal and two in Aggorat.

  • Golden Idols in Utzaal
    • Glorious Idol
    • Golden Idol
    • Grand Idol
  • Golden Idols in Aggorat
    • Exceptional Idol
    • Elegant Idol

These idols are not randomly dropped by enemies but are found placed on the ground or on pedestals, often in side rooms within these areas.

What to Do with Golden Idols in PoE 2

Once you've collected a Golden Idol, return to the Ziggurat Encampment in Path of Exile 2 to trade it for gold. Not all vendors will accept these items, but Oswald, located on the north side of the encampment, will. He'll comment on your Idol, and when you access the Buy & Sell screen with him, you can sell each Idol for the following amounts:

  • Golden Idol: 500 Gold
  • Grand Idol: 1000 Gold
  • Glorious Idol: 1500 Gold
  • Elegant Idol: 1000 Gold
  • Exceptional Idol: 1500 Gold

If you manage to gather all five Golden Idols from Utzaal and Aggorat, you'll amass a total of 6000 Gold. Given their high value and the fact they take up inventory space without further use, it's wise to return to the encampment to sell them as soon as you find them, freeing up space for more adventures.
