Fire Emblem Warriors (2017)

Marking the series' debut on the Switch, Fire Emblem Warriors is a thrilling crossover with Dynasty Warriors. It masterfully combines Fire Emblem’s strategic team-based gameplay with the frenetic, hack-and-slash action of Dynasty Warriors. This title is a must-play for action enthusiasts, though its lighter narrative may not satisfy those deeply invested in Fire Emblem's lore.

The game was developed by Omega Force, the studio behind Dynasty Warriors, in collaboration with Team Ninja, known for Ninja Gaiden and Nioh.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses represents a landmark achievement for the series. It was the first home console Fire Emblem game in over a decade, the first mainline Switch entry, and it achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, building on the legacy of Awakening.

Three Houses is a sprawling tactical RPG that expertly weaves epic battles into a narrative of political intrigue and religious conflict, set against the backdrop of a continental war. Between these grand confrontations, players can spend time in the monastery, training, teaching, exploring, and forming bonds with other characters through engaging and well-crafted dialogues.

This game encapsulates the best of Fire Emblem and is the perfect entry point for anyone looking to dive into the series on the Switch.

In 2020, Nintendo released Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, an enhanced version of the original Wii U game. This expanded port includes new story content, characters, and music, seamlessly blending Fire Emblem’s "weapon triangle" combat system with the stylish, dungeon-crawling action of Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series.

The game's narrative is a playful and often exaggerated take on Japanese pop culture, with the action taking center stage, much like its predecessor, Fire Emblem Warriors.

Nintendo and Omega Force reunited to create Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, their second crossover following Fire Emblem Warriors. This game offers a fresh take on the Three Houses storyline, set in an alternate universe where Byleth, the protagonist of Three Houses, plays the role of the antagonist.

Three Hopes successfully merges the social and tactical elements of Fire Emblem with the rapid, action-packed gameplay of Dynasty Warriors, offering a richer experience than its predecessor.

Fire Emblem Engage is the latest installment in the series and the second mainline title on the Switch. It builds upon the foundation laid by Three Houses, while also paying homage to Fire Emblem's rich history. Engage refines and streamlines the social and hub elements from Three Houses, placing a stronger emphasis on the series' iconic tactical combat, notably bringing back the "weapon triangle" system.

The narrative follows Alear, the Divine Dragon, on a quest to gather 12 rings to defeat the Fell Dragon and save Elyos. These rings connect Engage to the series' past, each containing the spirit of a previous Fire Emblem protagonist, allowing players to summon legendary heroes such as Marth, Ike, Celica, and Byleth.
