In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, your journey as the Wanderer is focused on restoring peace to the land. Throughout the main storyline, you'll encounter various choices, each leading to different paths. No matter which route you take, you'll often find yourself accompanied by powerful companions who will join you in battle.

These companions are not just sidekicks; they are formidable warriors that stick by your side on the battlefield. While you primarily control the Wanderer, there are times when you can take the reins of your companions, which can be a game-changer in combat. Given their superior strength, playing as these companions can often be more effective than sticking with the Wanderer, even with his upgrades. Switching to your companion in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is only possible during battles where you have a companion at your side. Before the battle, during the war council, you'll see an option to select your companion. You can opt to go into battle alone, but remember, you won't be able to switch to any companions mid-battle if you choose this route. Once the battle starts, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen where you'll see your companion's health bar just above your own.

Directly below their health bar, you'll notice a blue bar, similar to your Musou bar. This bar fills up as you engage in combat, with actions such as:

• Parrying attacks
• Perfect dodging
• Assaulting Officers
• Using Weapon Arts

Every combat action contributes to filling this bar, though at a slower pace.

When the blue bar is fully charged, a "Change Character" prompt will appear next to it. To switch characters, press and hold the designated button for about a second. This action is performed with the View Button on Xbox, C on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.

Upon switching, your new character will come into the fight with full Bravery and a range of combat arts at your disposal, all of which are highly effective.

When you switch, your new character will launch into the battle with a powerful attack, so make sure to aim at an enemy for maximum impact. Your companion also comes equipped with their own Musou bar and health bar, both fully charged, allowing you to unleash their unique special attack to wreak havoc on your foes.
