As you step into the eerie castle setting of the Blade Phantom's lair, you'll notice the floors are flooded with a crimson liquid, setting the stage for a fierce battle. The Blade Phantom is known for its relentless attacks, making it crucial to manage your stamina and aggression effectively. This boss fight introduces multiple phases, starting with the first where you'll face a variety of melee attacks:

  • A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
  • A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo that starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo with flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.

In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and red spikes to appear. If it opts for a spear, be prepared for a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. The boss can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.

Mastering the timing of these attacks is key. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can find openings to attack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the transition to the second phase.

Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom unleashing four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from above. After the spear lands, quickly move away from the impact zone to avoid the subsequent leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.

While the Blade Phantom retains many of its previous moves, it introduces new claw attacks and increases its teleportation frequency. Be vigilant for the spear thrust and follow-up, as well as the swift dual-wielding attacks. When the boss wields the greatsword, watch for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this move successfully, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.

To maximize damage, attack the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and only initiate the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed. This strategy will help you deal significant damage and secure victory. Upon defeating the Blade Phantom, you'll be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
