This annual celebration not only adds to the fun but also offers a unique chance for your farm-raised animals to take the spotlight. Whether you’re a seasoned farmer or new to the game, here’s a comprehensive guide on how to participate in the Animal Festival and maximize your chances of winning.

How to Unlock Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The Animal Festival is a seasonal event in Fields of Mistria, occurring annually on the 10th day of the Winter season. If you miss it one year due to other in-game commitments or simply forget, don’t worry—you can always participate the following year. This gives you plenty of time to prepare your animals, ensuring they’re in top condition for the festival.

How to Win Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The highlight of the Animal Festival is the main contest, where you can enter up to two of your farm-raised animals to compete for prizes. These can be one small animal (such as chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large animal (like cows, alpacas, or sheep). Importantly, only fully grown adult animals are eligible to enter.

How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest

To participate, head to the festival grounds in the center of town and find Josephine at the front counter. She will guide you to the two booths behind her where you can enter your animals.

Josephine provides crucial tips to boost your score:

• Animal Hearts: The more hearts your chosen animal has, the higher your score will be. You can increase an animal’s hearts by petting or picking them up, feeding them, and letting them outside on sunny days.
• Coat Color Rarity: Animals with rare coat colors, such as pink or blue, can also enhance your score.

Once ready, speak to Terithia at the left booth to enter your large animal, and Landen at the right booth to enter your small animal. A menu will display which of your animals qualify for each category. After making your selections, return to Josephine and let her know you're ready to ‘start the judging’.

During the judging, a cutscene will reveal the winners, starting with the small animal bracket. To win this category, you must outshine Hayden’s chicken, Henrietta. The large animal bracket follows, and victory here means beating Hayden’s cow, Sunshine.

Your final prizes depend on your ranking. Entering the contest in your first year might be challenging, as it takes time to fully fill your animals' heart gauges and unlock rare animals through farm upgrades and story quests. However, with consistent care and farm improvements each year, you’ll significantly increase your chances of winning the coveted gold crown.
