Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Launched at $2,399

Author:Kristen Update:May 21,2025

Starting today, Dell is offering an incredible deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, equipped with the latest GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, for just $2,399.99, including shipping. This is one of the most competitive prices available for an RTX 5080 prebuilt system, especially considering the general trend of increasing prices since the RTX 50 series was launched in January. At Dell, the next cheapest option with an RTX 5080 GPU is priced over $4,000. If you're thinking about building your own PC, good luck finding a standalone RTX 5080 GPU; you might end up spending as much on the GPU alone as you would on this complete system.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, paired with a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, part of the Meteor Lake series, features a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz, 20 cores, and a 30MB cache. The system is efficiently cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and is supported by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080 is one of the new Blackwell series graphics cards, which have been in high demand since their release. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "If you already own a high-end graphics card from recent years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be a significant upgrade – its performance edge over the RTX 4080 is minimal, though the enhanced frame rates from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation can improve gameplay in supported titles. However, for gamers looking to upgrade from older GPUs, the RTX 5080 offers a substantial performance boost, especially if you're keen on leveraging Nvidia's AI enhancements."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The design is an evolution of the 2024 R16 model, featuring minor aesthetic and cooling enhancements alongside updated components. The I/O panel has been relocated to the top of the case, and the tempered glass now covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are now positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the interior cleaner. Internally, the system includes a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial batch of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within an hour of preorders opening. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 were the first to launch, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Similarly, prebuilt gaming PCs with these new GPUs have quickly become unavailable, with remaining options either out of stock, increased in price, or facing significant delivery delays.
