Accessing the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, players were unable to access this location until the game's March 2025 update. Here's a detailed guide on how to unlock the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus within *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods involves breaking the Fire Seal and acquiring the Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines. To break the Fire Seal, you must place four specific items on the Priestess’ altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items can be found between floors 50 and 59. To obtain the Sealing Scroll, you'll need to collaborate with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor acquire the Sealing Scroll, leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've provided these items, speak to Balor again, and he'll inform you that the scroll will be available the next day. After obtaining the scroll, you can proceed with the offering at the altar.

After breaking the seal, instead of the usual outcome, the Priestess warns you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health low, Caldarus will appear in his human form to help, then retreat to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus leaves you with the Dragon’s Breath spell, an offensive tool that can burn through the vines blocking the Deep Woods entrance. To use it, equip the spell from the pause menu and activate it in front of the entrance. This action will permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other previously inaccessible areas.

How To Find Caldarus

After unlocking the Deep Woods, you can find Caldarus in his temple, located north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus’ exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, and he can be found in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to remove the stump blocking your path. Continue north until you reach the temple where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods are unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to this area for just 10 Essence. This method saves significant travel time compared to walking or riding a horse. You can also interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
