The developers at Schell Games, in collaboration with publisher Innersloth, have set the stage for the release of Among Us 3D on May 6, 2025. This announcement came via an official post on Among Us 3D's Twitter (X) account on April 16.

Originally known as Among Us VR, the game has been rebranded to Among Us 3D, promising a more inclusive gaming experience with its cross-play multiplayer feature. This week, the introduction of a new currency called Stardust was announced, which offers players endless flexibility in their in-game purchases.

Among Us 3D will introduce a permanent Tag Mode with an Infected role, native proximity voice chat, limited-time events, an array of new and returning mini-games, and a variety of new cosmetic options.

It's important to note that Among Us 3D is a standalone title, distinct from the 2022 release of Among Us VR. Cross-play between these two games will not be available. As stated on Schell Games' website in the FAQs for Among Us 3D, "Separating the versions during this development allowed/allows us to continue to bring quality updates to our Among Us VR beans while ensuring the highest quality and tailored experience for our new PC players."
